School Uniform

uniformGiven that there is substantial parental and public approval of uniform, schools in Inverclyde are free to encourage the wearing of school uniform.  In encouraging the wearing of uniform, account must be taken in any proposals to prevent any direct or indirect discrimination on the grounds of race or gender. Any proposals will be subject of widespread consultation with parents and pupils. Against this background, it should be noted that it is the policy of the Education and Lifelong Learning Committee not to insist on pupils wearing uniform or having specialist items of clothing as a prerequisite to their attending and engaging in all of the activities of the curriculum.

All of our parents however, do wish their children to wear the official school uniform which helps to create a sense of pride in, and belonging to our school. The items are listed below:

School ties, badges, polo shirts, sweatshirts and rain jackets may be purchased locally from Smith's Shoes and Sports, 36 West Blackhall Street, Greenock.

Ardgowan colours are :    

  •    Maroon jacket / fleece / blazer 
  •    Maroon sweatshirt
  •    Grey / Maroon jumper / cardigan
  •    White blouse / shirt / polo shirt
  •    Grey skirt / trousers
  •    Ardgowan Tartan Pinafore
